Ladakh shivers
04/01/11 16:20
Multiple news reports confirm a cold snap across northern India. Whilst New Delhi shivers at around 3 degrees Leh's temperature has fallen to -20°C, with Kargil following up at around -12°C. Snow has also fallen across the Kashmir winter resorts, so, whilst the Pensi La road to Zanskar was still open over Christmas it may well have closed on new year's eve. Ice on the Zanskar River will have been forming nicely although the snow will have brought relatively warmer conditions to the gorge. I'm awaiting news as to whether the Pensi La is open for the chaddar season.
